There are times when a dream is just a dream and then there are times when you know it is something more. A few weeks back I dreamt I was playing baseball. I had hit the ball and was running to first base. I began to be aware of the intense yelling of teammates and fans telling me to run faster and slide.
I knew I had more in me to run faster, but I didn’t.
I knew I could slide if I wanted to, but I didn’t.
I felt I didn’t need to do either because I believed my coasting would get me there just the same.
So, what I did do is almost get to first base with the expectation of being safe, but right before I put my foot down I was tagged out. I was run down from behind and tagged out.
I turned around to see who got me and the person I saw was Carroll O’Connor (Archie Bunker from the All in the Family sitcom). I recall actually wanting to laugh, but then reality hit me. If I gave it all I had I would have made it to my mark and been safe. It wasn’t Mr. O’Connor who go me out of the game. Nope…It was me. I did it to myself.
So on this, the first day of a new year, I implore you to give it all you got in everything you do. Make 2016 the best year yet.
Happy New Year!
